Pemerintah Kota Blitar or the City of Blitar is a city in East Java, situated 167 km from Surabaya and lies within longitude 111° 40' - 112° 09' East and latitude 8° 06' South. The City was established in 1 April 1906 and known as Patria City. The City of Blitar is recognized as the second city in East Java after Mojokerto City with an area of 32 km² and surrounded by Blitar regency. The City of Blitar is administratively divided into 3 districs, namely Sukorejo, Kepanjenkidul, Sananwetan.
The City of Blitar is lead by a Mayor and since 2010 held by Muhammad Samanhudi Anwar, replacing Djarot Saiful Hidayat. In 2011, the city was appraised by Tempo Magazine as one in eight comfortably livable city in Indonesia.
