HSBC has a very long history in Indonesia. It has been operating in Indonesia since 1884 in Jakarta (formerly known as Batavia). It initially served the important sugar trade and then expanded to Semarang and Surabaya. However, the bank faced obstacles along the way as the bank was forced to close operation during World War II and in the mid 1960s. However, HSBC was granted with a new banking license in 1968, and the bank has remain steady ever since. Now HSBC served its customer in Indonesia through 49 branches inclusive of 5 HSBC Amanah branches, in 6 major cities across Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Batam and Medan. Specialist Development Programme

Specialist Development Programme is a 24 month managerial, on-the-job training programme, which exposes trainees to the extensiveness of the Indonesian banking business. The goal of this programme is to prepare them to become a professional banker and HSBC’s future leaders.

This programme prepares the trainee by developing their personal skills, technical expertise and leadership capabilities. They will get a chance to network with industry professionals, be mentored by experienced managers and complete an overseas training program.

This practical on-the-job experience will develop within the trainee a more-than-foundational sense of management responsibility and leadership. It is an opportunity to generate and implement new ideas and innovations in an increasingly competitive market.

In the programme you will take on responsibilities within one of HSBC's business streams; the SDP program will ensure that you will have sufficient understanding and experience to excel in the banking industry after your graduation from the programme. Requirements:
  • A minimum of Bachelor Degree in any subject from a reputable university with an outstanding achievement and Grade Point Average of 3.25 for Bachelor Degree and 3.50 for Master Degree or equivalent.
  • A fresh graduate at the maximum age of 25 or has minimum 2-years working experiences at the maximum age of 27.
