United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is an United Nations (UN) agency mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. UNHCR was established in 14 December 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly and based in Geneva, Switzerland. In Indonesia, UNHCR operated since1979 and at the time of its inception, the activities of UNHCR Indonesia focused on handling the arrival of Vietnamese boat people refugees. UNHCR Indonesia based in Jakarta and supported by its representative offices in Medan, Tanjung Pinang, and Pontianak, Makassar, and Kupang. Currently, UNHCR Indonesia supported by more than 50 staffs working in Indonesia.

Currently UNHCR Indonesia urgently requires the following positions:

Protection Associate (UNOPS/GL6)

Work location: Bogor and Surabaya - Vacancy No. 12/INSJA/003-UNOPS

Protection Associate (UNOPS/GL8)

Work Location: Medan, Tanjung Pinang and Makassar - Vacancy No. 12/INSJA/004-UNOPS

General Requirements

• Education/Experience : preferably a University Degree in Law, Political sciences or related disciplines, with minimum of four years relevant work experiences or in human rights field
• Languages : Excellent knowledge of English and Indonesian (written and spoken). Knowledge of other UN language is an added asset
• Desirable skills : Communication, computer, good knowledge of UNHCR, excellent writting, good interviewing and counselling skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision
