PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk, main business activities are power and steam generation, coal mining, wholesale trading, and telecommunication infrastructure in Indonesia. The Company started its commercial operation on January 1, 1998 by operating the four power plants located in Tangerang, Serang, and Karawang. The plants have total capacity of 300 MW of power and 1,336 tons/hour of steam and have Quality Management System ISO 9001 : 2000 for operation and maintenance. In 2004 the Company merged with PT Supra Veritas and diversified its business into pulp, paper, and chemical trading.
On December 10, 2009, the Company listed 770,552,320 shares on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI). The proceeds from sale of shares were invested in the development of coal mining in Sumatra and Kalimantan by taking over 99.99% shares ownership of PT Golden Energy Mines Tbk (formerly called PT Bumi Kencana Eka Sakti). This step was taken by the Company in order to respond to the challenges of the very large market opportunity in the field of energy and mining business.
On December 23, 2010, the Company took over PT Rolimex Kimia Nusamas, a company engaged in chemical trading. Furthermore, in order to create the synergy between power and coal mining business, in 2011 the Company participated in the tender of PT PLN (Persero) for the Mine-Mouth Power Plant IPP Sumsel-5 Project with a capacity of 2 x 150 MW (IPP Sumsel-5 Project). In August 2011, the Company was appointed as preferred bidder by PLN for the procurement of IPP Sumsel-5 Project. As the follow up of the appointment, the Company then established PT DSSP Power Sumsel (DSSP) as a Special Purpose Company (SPC) which will run the IPP Sumsel-5 Project. On November 3, 2011, DSSP signed a Power Purchase Agreement with PLN for the IPP Sumsel-5 Project. IPP Sumsel-5 Project is expected to begin commercial operation in 2015.
On November 17, 2011, the Company’s subsidiary, PT Golden Energy Mines Tbk (GEMS), listed its shares on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Along with GEMS stock listing, the Company also took an important step in establishing strategic alliance with GMR Coal Resources Pte. Ltd., which was a subsidiary of GMR Group, a leading infrastructure business group in India. In this strategic alliance, the GMR Singapore has a 30% ownership in GEMS. This strategic alliance is established to support the achievement of the Company’s as well as GEMS’ strategic vision and mission in order to develop coal market in Indonesia and to realize the expansion plan in the future.
